Which browser can I use to apply for an S/MIME certificate?

The private key for an S/MIME certificate is generated by the browser during certificate registration. When the submit button is pressed, a key pair of the selected size is generated. The private key is encrypted and stored in the local key database. / MIME certificates can only be requeste using Edge in Internet Explorer Mode. All other browser do unfortunately not support this key generation process. (01.06.2022)

Important note: S/MIME certificate can only be ordered using Microsoft Edge in Internet Explorer Mode (Windows) or Firefox 68.0 (macOS). All other browsers do not support the key generation required for this process.
